Telkom’s current Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) offerings are now cheaper than its ADSL.
The biggest reason for the discrepancy is obvious: FTTH products don’t require any forced analogue line rental.
This has resulted in calls from major ISPs like Web Africa and MWEB for Telkom to offer a “naked ADSl” option which will hoepfully reduce costs and result in a larger uptake.
The table below shows the total price of DSL and FTTH access, based on Axxess’s latest prices:
|Service||Speed||Line Rental||Total Access Price (No Data)|
|FTTH||4Mbps||No line rental||R399|
|FTTH||8Mbps||No line rental||R459|
|FTTH||10Mbps||No line rental||R499|
|FTTH||20Mbps||No line rental||R599|
|FTTH||40Mbps||No line rental||R699|
